Tech Moves: Ad Lightning CEO Scott Moore steps down; Amazon Prime Video adds Nike vet

— Ad Lightning co-founder Scott Moore is stepping down from his CEO role for personal reasons but will remain on the board of directors and support the company’s business strategy. Dan Frechtling has been appointed the new CEO.

Spun out of Pioneer Square Labs in 2017, Ad Lightning provides tools for publishers and ad networks to identify non-compliant ads. The Seattle-based startup recently raised additional funding for a new product to help clients meet privacy standards that can vary by state and country.

Frechtling was most recently president of G2 Web Services, a Verisk Analytics company. Based in Bellevue, Wash., G2 Web Services provides risk management services for e-commerce merchants.

Before joining G2 Web Services in 2015, Frechtling was vice president of global website products for digital marketing company Hibu.

“As we expand into new target markets, such as data privacy, I’m confident that Dan will set the right course for the company,” said Moore.

Moore co-founded Ad Lightning with Kate Reinmiller and Drake Callahan. Prior to Ad Lightning, Moore was CEO of Cheezburger, a network of humor sites, and a media executive at Microsoft, Yahoo, MSNBC and Slate.

Marc Patrick is joining Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Studios as global head of sports marketing. He most recently was SVP of marketing at Bill Gates-backed Beyond Meat.

Patrick spent more than two decades at Nike, most recently as head of global brand communications. In his role at Amazon, he will work with the NFL on the new deal on Amazon Prime Video. He will also work on sports-themed content with the Amazon Studios team.

Founded in 2001, the philanthropy provides funding and guidance for creative, novel projects that tackle challenges affecting low-income families. Its work also emphasizes the role of innovation in the social sector. Last year, Carmen Rojas joined as president and CEO and was a profiled in GeekWire.

— Network security startup ExtraHop appointed Mark Bowling as VP of security response services.

A former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent, Bowling’s experience includes cybersecurity initiatives for the FBI and U.S. Department of Education. Based in Arkansas, Bowling most recently provided cybersecurity risk management consulting for private sector clients.

— Software development consultancy GenUI promoted David Barnes to COO. Barnes joined the Seattle-based firm last year from Slalom Consulting.

He was also a business consultant at Logic 20/20 and previously director of product strategy and development at Premera Blue Cross.
