T-Mobile now covers over 200 million people with 5G

What you need to know

  • T-Mobile now covers over 200 million people with 5G.
  • The company hit that number with both its mid-band and mmWave technology.
  • The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 are able to use 5G connectivity.

T-Mobile wants to be THE carrier when it comes to 5G.

In a press release, T-Mobile has announced that the company now covers over 200 million people in the United States with a 5G signal.

The company says that it is able to accomplish this coverage because of its rollout of both mid-band and mmWave 5G technology. Mid-band is the key here that has pushed the company ahead of other U.S. carriers like At&t and Verizon.

Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile, said that the current state puts the company two years ahead of its competitors.

"We're delivering game changing Ultra Capacity 5G to people across the country at an unprecedented pace, putting us in a network leadership position with a two-year head start on the competition. And that gap is only getting wider as we speed up. Only T-Mobile is delivering a 5G network capable of truly transforming the smartphone experience – 5G's first killer app – and that's just the beginning. With Ultra Capacity 5G nationwide, we're unleashing innovators across the country to build new 5G applications that will change the world."

The company says that it plans to continue the rollout of mid-band and mmWave 5G until it covers more than 300 million people over the next two years.

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineup are both able to take advantage of the 5G technology that T-Mobile has deployed in the United States.

Bottom line: The iPhone 13 is the best iPhone for most people, with impressive new cameras and notable improvements to battery life. Without all the bells and whistles of the Pro line, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are still powerhouses that'll keep owners happy for years to come.
