HYPER's new 15-port dock supports three 4K monitors and a ton more

What you need to know

  • HYPER has announced a new MacBook dock that houses 15 ports.
  • People can connect up to three displays to the new dock.

Pricing starts at $149 via Indiegogo.

Accessory firm HYPER has announced a new MacBook dock that sports as many as 15 ports and can send images to up to three 4K displays at the same time. That's made possible by the inclusion of three HDMI and DisplayPort ports, with the HyperDrive Dock connecting to the MacBook via three USB-C cables.

Those three cables are needed if you want to use the full 15-port option, although connecting a single cable gets you 11 ports.

Alongside video connectivity, users can also enjoy Gigabit Ethernet, USB-C PD 100W passthrough, two USB-C 10Gbps ports, a USB-A 10Gbps port, and two USB-A 5Gbps ports. microSD and SD card slots are also offered with speeds of up to 104MB/s.

The new HyperDrive Dock works with all MacBooks from 2016 onwards, including the new 2021 MacBook Pro.

In use, the dock sits below the MacBook, raising the back slightly. That gives you a more comfortable typing experience as well as improved heat dissipation — great for those who are pushing those fancy new M1 Max chips to the limit!

Anyone who wants to add one of these things to their kit bag can order the 15-port model for 13-inch to 16-inch MacBooks for $149 as part of an Indiegogo early bird special. There is an option designed for just 13-inch and 14-inch models, too — but you'll lose a couple of ports.
